A message from Dr. Nicole Lamartine, President, NW Region, ACDA regarding the 2018 conference in Portland
My heart is full... over two years of planning and it was everything I had hoped for.
There were so many highlights in the
conference and it confirmed for me that we have a duty and a responsibility to strive for excellence in our teaching of choral music, but, more importantly, that we have a calling to provide an opportunity for personal journey through the experience of the music- as performer and observer.
My list of people to thank is immense and reminds me that it truly does take a village to put on a conference. There are too many to list here, but I am so, so grateful for everyone’s contributions.
Brian Galante- Program Chair who worked tirelessly day and night to make the vision come alive. I am indebted to you for your commitment to this project. It has been so much fun working with you.
Amy Ballard - Honor Choir Chair who orchestrated all of the details for five honor choirs. I am inspired by your energy and extraordinary organization.
Zach Vreeman- Reading Session Chair
Paul Aitken and MacKenzie Blakely Aitken- Interest Session Chairs
Carol Stewart-Smith- our fearless region Treasurer
Howard Meharg- conference photographer and webmaster.... loving friend to all and legend in our region
Sandy Babb- Site Chair for First Congregational Church... we literally could not have done this conference without you
Taylor Iverson- Student Worker Coordinator
Erika Lockwood- Equipment Manager
Julie Parsons - App Manager
And our Board members who helped in planning and volunteering.
Evans Mbinji- our Kenyan ICEP conductor
Craig Johnson- for being the most inspirational headliner I could have asked for!
Roomful of Teeth- for opening our minds and helping us to re-imagine ensemble singing.
Much love to my favorite region of ACDA. It has been an honor to serve you as President.
Thanks for a great time together.
